Swimming against the current, Joan of Arc continues to be a modern age hero of moral courage. At the age of 17, with no military training she convinced the crown prince to allow her to lead a French army to the besieged city of Orleans where it achieved victory. She had to leave the comfort and security of her home village and family, to face ridicule, rejection, and eventually a lot of physical danger. And she succeeded! Joan’s “yes” actually changed the course of history, and it was her “yes” that inspired a nation to fight for God and to bring about a great victory for His Church. Do you have the courage to say “yes”? I am not afraid. I was born to do this. St Joan of Arc, pray for us!
